SecurityMetrics Releases PANscan, a fast, simple-to-use credit card discovery tool.
Use Requirements:
PANscan requires an active Internet connection.PANscan supports Windows® 2000, Windows ®XP, Windows ® Vista, Windows® 7.
Help documents require a pdf document reader.
This release fixes the following issues:
Summary
Various problems occur when installing a new version of PANscan with an existing install.
Duplicate results files on Results tab.
Selecting 'Mag stripe track data' in the Tree view should only display the track data in the 'Card Type' view.
PANscan is launched before the last installation dialog closes.
Update Results text is available for Registered-only users.
The Card Type section disappears from the Results tab when trying to resize columns.
Error messages on panels need to stand out more.
Options on the Settings tab should be disabled if user has not entered registration data.
Unexpected exception on standard scan.
System files are showing up as false positives on the Results tab.
There should be cursor focus in the 'SecurityMetrics Account Email' field on the Register tab.
One credit card number appearing multiple times in Card Type view.
Lower case needed on Scan tab.
Disable some of the Results Options under certain conditions.
There should be a visual indicator when a scan is completed if other apps are open.
Network drive sizing takes several minutes.
Before a user registers, the message on the Results tab has a partially hidden character.
Attempting to click the Stop button while scanning a large file causes PANscan to hang.
When opening an existing .pans the Access denied node appears but Path view is empty.
Spelling change needed on notification pop-up when entering new registration data.
When selecting all drives to scan, if one drive is empty the scan will stop after trying to scan the empty drive.
Please change 'kB' to 'KB' on the Scan tab.
PANscan does not detect track data if there is a space in the track character string.
Clicking Results tab after previously clicking 'Yes' to send data causes this pop-up to appear.
Incorrect data appearing in the Card Type after scanning files containing track and cc #s.
Remove Beta Designation from PANscan.
Build 1.0.66 launches slower than build 1.0.62.
panscanner defaults need simplification.
Create a link to download PANscan as merchants are taking the SAQ.
GUI issues with Windows Vista using Standard or Classic scheme.
The folder name 'Unable to access files' in the tree pane of the Results tab is misleading.
Issues on the Results tab with 'selected' files/folders and 'highlighted' files/folders.
The progress bar on the Scan tab does not appear to be working correctly.
Clicking Clear Registration on Settings tab should delete the data on the Register tab.
Please make a spacing change on the Summary document created from Results Options.
The 'Welcome' image reappears after a user registers and runs an initial scan.
The Results Options feature on the Results tab becomes temporarily disabled.
The expandable icon does not display on the Results tab after loading an existing scan.
A communication error occurs after each scan, which causes feature outages.
Files containing credit card data are auto-generated in folders that cannot be accessed.
The default filename for the QuickStart Guide is cased incorrectly.
PANscan content & UI changes (round two).
Add additional FAQs.
Add documentation to the Results section to cover Access denied.
Add Description of "Access denied" to Results Help.
Attempting to install a previous version over a current install should not be allowed.
Error message received when attempting to 'Load' previously saved scan results.
Root folder on Results tab should also be selected in tree view corresponding with the contents of the Card Type view.
A scan in progress should 'halt' until the user responds to pop-up when clicking on Windows X button.
The wrong documentation pages are displayed when clicking on the context help icon for two tabs.
When clicking the FAQ link on the Help tab the documentation should display the FAQ section.
PANscan should show the default path in the 'Results Directory' field on the Settings tab.
The following are known issues with this release:
Summary
Network volume (without drive letter) is not scanned.
A registered customer should not receive the "...must have an active Site Cert.." message.
PANscan fails to locate credit card numbers that contain spaces.
ComboBox on Settings tab overwrites status message appearing at bottom of screen.
Attempting to scan a drive where there is no data results in successful scan notification.
The default 'Note' on Settings tab implies Scan Location will be returned to default folder.
Clicking the Windows red X button does not pause PANscan functionality.
User to be notified when opening large file that the Results Options become temporarily disabled.
Display issues when running PANscan on Windows® 7 64-bit OS.
PANscan no longer detects credit card data that has been moved to the Recycle Bin.
Error message received 'Summary transmission failed' after scanning drive with 9x.
Odd file listed under 'Mag stripe track data' but the file appears to be a system file.
Attempting to open a .pans file on Win7 that was created on 9x fails to display the results detail.
Support RAR compression
Enhance Report option in Results Options to include specific reports for folder/drive/file.
The SecurityMetrics trademark symbol next to the logo is not distinguishable.
Disclaimers:
PANscan is designed to accurately find unencrypted credit card data on computer systems and networks while eliminating false positives. PANscan may occasionally misidentify actual card data as a false positive.
PANscan detects card data in streams of ascii text. Some file formats alter the card data such that PANscan does not detect the card data (even though it is displayed in the application).

A limited version PANscan works on Windows® 95/98. Contact SecurityMetrics Support for more information.
Mac OSX and Linux versions are in development.
